Why am I fundraising?
Bryan and Allie Baker were told they could never have a child, so they were overjoyed when Allie delivered a healthy baby boy named Sylas. Now 2 years old, he loves the outdoors, playing with his toy trucks and hanging out in the gym with his parents.
Recently, they started to notice draining energy levels in Sylas. He began to ask for daily naps, when he would previously fight against them. Because they both experienced colds, they assumed that’s why Sylas was tired. After a week, however, they noticed spots on him. Thinking it was a rash, they make an appointment with their pediatrician. Within five minutes of being seen, Sylas was sent to get a blood draw. Concerned, Bryan and Allie waited the longest 24 hours of their lives for the results. They received a call that UNC Children’s Hospital was waiting for them and to go immediately. Their concern over a rash turned into a nightmare when they heard, “Your son has leukemia.”
Medical bills, copays and drug costs, as well as day-to-day living expenses, are overwhelming. Any amount you can donate to the care of Sylas would greatly help to reduce the financial burden for the Baker family. Every dollar raised will go directly to them.
