Why am I fundraising?

It will be one year in October since we lost my mother-in-law, Uma Chugha, to ALS. As many of you know, Mum was a bright and loving person, always with a cheerful smile and willing to serve others. She was known for striking up conversations with strangers and the vegetarian chili she prepared at the soup kitchen was legendary. ALS took her from us too soon. We have also lost friends from ALS and have friends who are battling this disease now.

I never imagined a marathon would be possible, but Mum and my fearless brothers and sisters who face this disease are inspiring me to walk my first marathon. I am participating in the RDC Marathon to celebrate their memory and honor their courage.
